Buttery Jammy Cranberry Bars πŸŽ„πŸ¦Œ (DAY 8 of 12 Days of Cookies)

Hi Reader!

An easy breezy shortbread crust is covered in cranberry jam (so simple, takes about 30 minutes) and then topped with my favorite blonde streusel that's jazzed up with orange zest, vanilla bean and sliced almonds. I'm not sure you can find a holiday cookie that screams holiday louder than this one!

All three components of this recipe (the crust, jam and streusel) can be made ahead of time and stored separately in the fridge for several days. Assemble and bake the day you want to serve.

These bars can go casual, or you can jazz them up further with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

This is not a cookie that ships well for those sending out cookie boxes.

Hi Reader! This cookie was, no joke, the sleeper hit of holiday cookie recipe testing. EVERYONE, loved this cookie! These cranberry orange sugar cookies taste like the marriage between the texture of a snickerdoodle (pillowy!) and the flavor of a sugar cookie (butter rich! delicious!). Happy Sunday Reader! Marshmallow + chocolate is another one of my favorite flavor combinations and these cookies deliver! Several years ago I started working on this cookie and I wasn't dazzled with how it was turning out and so I just dropped it.
